Yasef Eli is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) with over 35 years of experience in the accounting profession.

 

Accounting runs in the family: both his

grandfather and father were accountants. From his childhood, Yasef Eli remembers noting the perseverance, attention to detail, and concentration that his father applied on his files as he added columns of figures in his head.

 

Yasef Eli is a member of the Quebec CPA Order (Ordre des comptables professionnels agrées du Québec) and has been a CPA member since 1994. He became a Certified Public Accountant, State of Illinois, in 1999.

Experience and Education

After working in several well-established medium-size accounting firms in Montreal and gaining particular experience and expertise in accounting auditing and tax, Yasef Eli welcomed clients to his own firm in 2005.

 

By working with a range of Canadian nationals, residents, and non-residents, Yasef Eli stationed himself in a unique position to develop experience in:  the tax and accounting issues related to immigration/emigration, the setup of tax-planning structures like trusts,  the resolution of questions regarding principal residence, among other areas of international accounting and planning.

 

Yasef Eli understands the immigrant experience because he himself immigrated to Canada in the 1980s. Prior to his arrival in Canada, he completed a Bachelor of Science (Statistics) at Tel Aviv University in 1984.

 

Once in Canada, Yasef Eli obtained a Graduate Diploma in Public Accountancy from McGill University in 1991 and passed the CA exams that same year. To gain a better understanding of the nature of tax laws in the U.S., he pursued his studies and became a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Illinois in 1999.

 

Motivated to further his knowledge, Yasef Eli completed the CICA In-Depth Taxation, a tax specialization, in 2003.

He continues to expand his knowledge of the latest developments in his profession. Like all members of the Quebec CPA Order, he completes 120 hours of training per rolling three-year period.

Participation in Associations

Yasef Eli has been the Treasurer of the Turkish Quebec Cultural and Friendship Association (Turquebec) since 2012, as well as the director of the Peace and Social Juctice Foundation since 2012.

He is a member of BNI (Business Network International) and was Treasurer of his chapter from 2014 till 2024

​

As a proud alumnus of Tel Aviv University, he is currently serving as Treasurer on the Regional Board and Chair of the Audit Committee on the National Board of the Canadian Friends of Tel Aviv University till September 2020. He joined the Montreal Chapter in 2017.

Personal Life

Yasef Eli enjoys meeting and talking with people as well as sharing his knowledge in an engaging and constructive way, whether with clients or colleagues. He has a stand-up routine that takes a humorous look at the world from an immigrant’s and accountant’s point of view.

 

When he isn’t working with clients, he enjoys the company of his family. On his own, he can be found cooking, gardening, watching soccer, or reading up on statistics,  history, and the culture of food over the centuries.

 

Yasef Eli speaks English, French, Turkish, Hebrew, and some Spanish and Ladino.
